NOTICE: How to properly name and prepare your documents for submission

Please name each file with your full name followed by the “Document Name.”
For example, if John Smith has uploaded a transcript, file should be named: John Smith Transcript.
Acceptable file formats are: pdf

1. Invoice Required From Your Educational Institution (All Applicants)

Attach the invoice from your university, vocational school, or hostel showing how much they expect you to pay for the next academic term.

Invoice Requirements:

  1. Official Letterhead
  2. Dated
  3. Your name must be listed
  4. Course Detail and Amount- with a course item breakdown of the expense and cost in local currency.
  5. Signature AND Stamp of School Official or Hostel Owner

2. Bank Information Requirements (All Applicants)

Attach bank information from your university, vocational school, or hostel with the international account details that the ABF award funds can be wired to.

Banking Requirements for your School or Hostel MUST be in English:

  3. Bank Name
  4. Bank SWIFT Code
  5. School or Hostel Account Name
  6. School or Hostel IBAN (international bank account number) or Bank Account Number
  7. Signature AND Stamp of School Official or Hostel Owner

Admission Letter Requirements

  4. Duration of acceptance – how many years is your program
  5. Program of study
  6. Official’s Signature AND Stamp

4. Grades from Previous Academic Term (Continuing Applicants)

If you are reapplying for a grant, you are required to submit grades from the last term when you were in school. This document must be stamped and signed by a school official. Applicants please note that ABF pays significant attention to grades during the selection process. All applicants are expected to meet the minimum grade requirement to move to the next academic level.

PLEASE NOTE: Students who fail any class incurred while ABF funded that course will not be eligible for ABF funding to repeat that class. Furthermore, if a student’s overall grade point average falls below a passing grade, the student will not be eligible fo ABF funding until the GPA is improved to a minimum of a passing grade.

For new students, applications with transcripts that show failing grades will not be considered until new grades have been provided that demonstrate that the student is in good standing, with no failing grades.

5. Referrals

Christian Science Reference (All Applicants)

  1. An adult in your branch church (not a relative) who can verify that you are an active and dedicated student of Christian Science.
  2. Any referral written or submitted by anyone other than the referee will result in denial of your application.

Instructions for First Time Applicants

  1. Supply your reference’s contact information in the ‘References Contact Information’ section of your online application form.
  2. We will send a questionnaire to your reference directly, so they must check their email regularly.
  3. You should check with your referee to ensure that he or she has returned the form so we can continue processing your application.

Instructions for Returning Applicants

  1. All returning applicants must provide a new reference for each new application (different from any previous reference).
  2. Supply your reference’s contact information in the ‘References Contact Information’ section of your online application form.
  3. Once your application is completed, ABF will send a questionnaire to your reference directly, so they must check their email regularly.
  4. ABF’s Africa Processing Agent will send you and your reference an email notifying you that your reference has one week to complete and return the questionnaire to ABF.
  5. You should check with your referee to ensure that he or she has returned the form so we can continue processing your application.
  6. If ABF does not receive the reference questionnaire in one week, your application may be denied. This portion (ensuring that your referee returns the form to ABF) is your responsibility.
